Growing
in Faith
 |
Growing in grace
is a lifelong project. Christians who are baptized as infants begin their
journey even before they can remember. At Grace we consciously design an
entire spectrum of learning resources for persons of every age and stage
of life. Together we open each other's lives to make way for the Holy Spirit
to deepen our faith; together we discover how God is weaving the story
of Jesus into the warp and woof of our lives. Click on the items below

Confirmation
Ministry
What is confirmation?
When young children are baptized, parents
promise to help them grow in faith by teaching the Bible, the Ten Commandments,
Creed and Lord's Prayer. Over the years at home, at church and Sunday School
our children learn about what it means to be a Christian. When a child
enters middle school, its time to "put it all together." Thats what we
do in Confirmation. Heres a good definition:
Confirmation
is a pastoral and educational ministry of the church that helps the baptized
through word and sacrament to identify more deeply with the Christian
community
and participate more fully in its mission.
How does Grace prepare our youth for
confirmation?
The pastor and members of Grace, along
with parents, help young members to get ready. During September through
May of the sixth through eighth grade years, youth meet with the pastor
and other adult members of Grace to explore what baptism means and how
we are a part of Gods plan to love the world. Some of our meetings happen
on Sunday mornings, during the Christian Education Hour. And middle school
confirmands also meet with the pastor on Wednesday evenings in a joint
program with Atonement Lutheran Church.
